Boat Propellers
, 09 30th, 2009Well designed aluminum boat
propellers will out perform an average stainless steel propeller. So it’s important to research a propeller’s performance before your purchase. It is also important to try different pitches and brands to get your boat dialed in to the best possible propeller.
The advantage of a stainless steel propeller over aluminum is durability. Stainless props can withstand more of the damage caused by small rocks, sand, or other loose objects in the water.
However, the disadvantage to a stainless propeller is that there is ?minimal give” to the blades, so if you hit an object hard enough, there is a possibility of causing major damage to your lower unit is increased greatly. With aluminum props, the blades will most likely sacrifice themselves before any damage is caused to your lower unit.
If you run in deep or familiar waters, or in salt/brackish water, a stainless steel propeller can be a good choice. But it is important to always carry a spare propeller on board, and a spare aluminum is an inexpensive choice.

r knowing while it comes for boating gear? What is boating gear, really? We say boating gear like everything you want to outfit the boat for meeting the specific needs. This might range from several safety equipments to apparels. What’s the essential gear for boating every sailor must have a wide variety of marine accessories.
First, you should have all required safety equipments as outlined by US Coast Guards. This includes one fire extinguisher, life jacket for people on board, and a sound-producing device as a bell or horn, and appropriate lighting for boating during nights. This boating gear should be possessed by law and all boats should have them.
It is a great idea for outfitting the boat with one radio so that you may communicate to the shore. At least, you may have a type of cell or 2-way radio in case of emergencies. You may also put one stereo in the boat for some personal enjoyment when being on water.
For anchoring and docking, you’ll require some anchor, of course, a line for attaching the anchor too. You’ll need docking line such that you may tie up the pier. You will also require some dock bumpers for avoiding damage to the boat while mooring. These are as blow-up buoys which hang from these sides of the boat.
While it comes to activities with the boat, the gear required is probably obvious. If you would be water skiing, you will need the skis and a very strong tow rope too. For inner-tubing, buy a good tube which might hold much more than a single person. It is also a very good idea for getting a tube with these handles. You would need one tow rope for the inner tube too.
If you would be fishing, the boating gear would be somewhat different. Of course, you need the fishing gear -reels, bait, rods etc. But you would also require someplace for keeping your catch like a bucket or water well. You must also possess someplace for storing the gear while it’s on board.
A very good navigation system is taken into account by some folks as an important piece of boating gear. You may find a GPS system for less money, and it might be one life saver you found yourself when lost in water. At least, you require a good compass such that you don’t lose the way.
There are literally many items which people consider essential for boating gears. You should choose which you must need and which you should have to possess. Boating gear would be available in these sporting goods stores online too, and the types which are available would get the boat outfitted in different styles!

Dog Life Jackets
, 09 23rd, 2009
Do you enjoy taking your dog with you to the beach or on boating adventures? If so, then you should know just how important dog life jackets are. Your pet is a member of your family, so he or she should receive the same high level of protection as you and your children receive. Within this article, we are going to tell you just how important a dog life vest can be.
Yes, dogs already know how to swim, but when there are fast currents or choppy waters, this could be a bit too much for your pet. Dogs tire out easily and could become fatigued. Even if Fido is a good swimmer, you should put him in a flotation device whenever you are around water with him.
When your pet is swimming normally, the dog life vest could still help. When your pet wears the vest when he or she is swimming normally, it could hold his head above the water, which will make it easier for him to breathe. Also, your pet is going to have more stamina with a life jacket on.
However, even with the use of dog life jackets you should not go thinking that it is fine to leave your pet unsupervised in the water. Many people use these as security to leave their dog alone when they should always be used supervised – just like you supervise your children with their life jackets.
You never know when your pet is going to get caught in something or be swept up current, so even if he or she has a dog life vest on, you should still keep all eyes on him or her. We suggest that you be a responsible pet owner and invest in one of those dog life jackets today. You never know, the dog life jacket could end up saving your pets life.

Eagle Fishfinder
, 09 22nd, 2009Bass tou
rnaments are happening every weekend somewhere and as I watched the one this last weekend at my favorite lake I was very interested in why the bass boats were going into areas I would not think had fish, but the fisherman were their anyway, all I know is I hope they had a good fishfinder and were not wasting their time while other fisherman were in other areas and catching fish because they used a good Eagle Fishfinder. I know a lot of people are done boating for the year even though their is lots of warm weather around the country but the fisherman are out their using their fishfinders and having lots of fun.
Watch Out for the Boat Police
, 09 21st, 2009
If you think that cops can be a pain in the rear, just wait until you encounter boat cops on the water. Now, it’s not that I wish to speak ill of our country’s law enforcement system. It’s a great service that our policemen provide: to serve and protect. However, on the flip side most of us have also had a not-so-pleasant run in with the police. This doesn’t mean that you’ve been arrested or even done anything illegal – and that’s just my point – sometimes in life you catch crap for doing nothing at all.
It was last summer, 4th of July, and my buddies and I were out on a boat to enjoy the festivities. We had anchored in the middle of it all, Lake Union. Out of nowhere we heard sirens and saw a flashing of red and blue. It was the boat police who pulled upside our vessel and then proceeded to board our ship. They demanded to know where the life jackets were. We pulled them out from under the cargo area of the boat, and much to our surprise they grabbed two and took off. The entire ordeal left us all little stunned and angry.

Tubing is a challenging new experience, not just another towable that you simply hang on to. The TEAM SLALOM is a new Doable; a controllable towable that you can maneuver, slalom, jump, veer, and do a combination of moves through the boat wake or crest in a straight-line boat pattern. Doables are PATENT PENDING new shapes that have less drag with smaller footprints for reduced gas consumption. A new PATENT PENDING bottom “VEER” tow system, combined with strategically located extra large PATENT PENDING Tiger Tooth Fins enable the rider to control the Team Slalom in various shoe-lace type moves. Skill is acquired via multiple riding attempts. You will learn that slaloming is achieved by leaning left or right away from the boat. As you gain balance and the ability to maneuver, you will have plenty of spills and chills. All riders, boat drivers and spotters are novices. Start slowly at reduced speeds until you gain confidence, then create your own thrilling ride and have fun with the new inflatable sport.
