Marine Stereo Installation
, 09 28th, 2010
Many boaters consider a marine stereo system on their watercrafts an essential part of the boating experience. Most everyone is familiar with stereo systems in automobile. A marine stereo system is very similar. The marine environment is different than the shore environment, however, and a marine stereo installation has different considerations than a car stereo installation. Installing a marine stereo is something most boaters can accomplish after carefully reviewing the requirements.
- Both the stereo and the speakers should be water-resistant or waterproof. This is a requirement even if water seldom enters the the boat’s cockpit area. The marine environment is extremely humid, and most boat cockpits are relatively open. A car stereo system that is not waterproof would rapidly corrode in this type of environment. Marine stereo equipment is specifically designed and built to withstand the highly corrosive marine environment.
